Unusual horse skeleton found in California park

An off-the-track hiker found the skeletal remains of a horse in Samuel P. Taylor State Park in November. What made the discovery unusual is not that is was a mere 260 feet from the highway, on a steep incline, but that it had a full set of tack on, including bridle, saddle and horse shoes.

The remains are speculated to be dating back to roughly the 1970’s, based on the skeleton’s state of decomposition.
